“Apparitions: Tulpas, Ghosts, Fairies, and even Stranger Things” by Malcolm Smith

Magick Matters

"One in ten people claim to have encountered a ghost, yet science refuses to acknowledge their existence. However, it turns out that ghosts are by no means the only, or most mysterious of apparitions. Now, an author with a background in science has sought to uncover the parameters of this bewildering field. In this, he has adopted three principals: 1. to first seek a mundane explanation 2. not accept anything until it has been confirmed by further data, and 3. not to discard any item, but to file it away in case something similar appears later. In this manner, he documents the little known phenomenon of apparitions which can be shown to result from the ...>>

“The Dark Messiah: Magick, Gnosis and Religion” by Brian J. Allan

Magick Matters

"Did religion legitimize magick or magick legitimize religion? Logic would suggest the latter because shamanic and animistic traditions have long predated organized religion. In this book the author delves deep into the genre and posits the idea that that religion and magick are one and the same. Examples of mystical and magickal occurrences in the Catholic cannon include visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, miraculous healing, levitation, weeping statues, prophesy, bilocation and of course the rather disquieting phenomenon of stigmata. None of these manifestations are by any definition normal or conventional and must therefore be regarded as ‘paranormal’. Is there any difference between the magickal displays attributed to saints and other conventionally ‘holy people’ and ...>>

“The Wild Woman’s Book of Shadows: A Magical Guide of Rituals + Practices for Living an Enchanted Life” by Melissa Kim Corter

Magick Matters

"The magic of nature, the moon, and the seasons had a profound effect on Melissa Kim Corter growing up. Mystical experiences unfolded in the simplest of moments. Rocks and trees were animated with life; the moon listened to her stories while the Earth held her as she stumbled through life as an empath (feeling everything so deeply). As she began to morph and adapt to the adolescent changes of life, magical views were stripped away until only a fragment of her imagination. She was lost and floundered until she awakened the wild, wise woman within. This book contains women who “know” truth through feeling and sensation without the need for evidence or approval. This collective ...>>

“Shaman: The Mysterious Life and Impeccable Death of Carlos Castaneda” by Mike Sager

Magick Matters

"Some say he was a breakthrough academic and visionary shaman. Others say he was a sham. Either way, Carlos Castaneda shaped a generation of mystical thinkers and magic mushroom eaters. In 1968, at the height of the psychedelic age, Castaneda published The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge, the first of twelve books describing his apprenticeship to an Indian shaman, and his journeys to the “separate reality” of the sorcerers’ worlds. Like Herman Hesse’s Steppenwolf and Aldous Huxley’s The Doors of Perception, The Teachings of Don Juan and its sequels became essential reading for legions of truth seekers. Castaneda himself became a cult figure—seldom seen, nearly mythological, a cross between ...>>
