“The Anatomy of Witchcraft” by Peter Haining

"The Anatomy of Witchcraft" by Peter Haining

"This book is the sort of book I would have loved to have found in a second hand book store when I was 12 or 13. Musty, pulpy and spooky. Culled mostly from news paper stories and supposed interviews, it can't help but appear to have something of a Weekly World News kind of sensationalism to it, delving into the creepy vision of witch craft that people had in the 60's in the UK and then in 70's Hollywood. However, it is interesting to see the change in how Wicca has been viewed by the public. The more interesting parts come towards the end of the book where it looks into voodoo and magic among African American witches.

If anything, this book is interesting to read as a document in itself, but should be considered more for entertainment than anything else, though it definitely brought up all the key names in witchcraft and gives a good starting point for anyone who wants to research further and elsewhere. Either way it's a quick read. Grab it if you see it."
